Welcome from the Glenisa Angus team.
Glenisa Angus is nestled in the mountainous, sandy heart of the Granite Belt region in Southern Queensland. We are situated right on the New England Highway, and are easily accessible all year round. We encourage people to come and view our sale stock and any of the elite members of our breeding program.
We look forward to catching up with you.
GLENISA UPDATE
2011 was a very busy year at Glenisa. Our inaugural stand alone Angus Bull sale is behind us. The sale was a great success with 72 lots put before a large group of buyers. All bulls sold for an average of $5,000. While the majority of the bulls were sold into Southern Queensland and Northern NSW others went to buyers from Tasmania to Charters Towers in North Queensland. We have already received some excellent feedback from buyers and while we were delighted with the average price we believe our bulls represented great value for money for the purchasers.
Planning is well under way for our 2012 sale on Saturday August 18. Once again the sale will be held at the Silver Downs Selling complex, Tenterfield so mark the date and venue in your diary. We will be offering a strong line-up of both registered and commercial Angus bulls.
In November our long term farm manager Mick Griffiths advised us that he would be leaving Glenisa in the New Year to pursue other interests.
We are therefore pleased to introduce Ashley Burgess who joined us early in January assuming the role of farm manager and will be assisting us as we look to forge an exciting future for Glenisa.
A Canadian national, Ashley hales from Brisco, British Columbia and brings with her significant experience and expertise in the cattle and equine industries.
After finishing her high school education, Ashley completed a Diploma in Animal Science in 2006 at Lakeland College, Alberta. In 2008 she attended the Grazing School for Women at the Alberta Riparian Habitat Management Society. The Society strives to foster a better understanding of how improvements in grazing and other management of riparian areas can enhance landscape health and productivity, for the benefit of landowners and agricultural producers.
Ashley has considerable experience in both the cattle and equine artificial breeding industry. Skills that she will now use in our operation at Glenisa and that are sure to be beneficial in the expansion of the Ced Wise AB Centre at Glenisa. She is also qualified in Equine Chiropractics and more recently, successfully completed a Semen Morphology Course at Charles Sturt University.
While in Canada, Ashley built a profitable commercial Angus and Charolais enterprise and has a good understanding of Angus cattle. Her decision in 2009 to come to Australia to further enhance her education, and knowledge of the cattle industry resulted in the reluctant dispersal of this enterprise.
Ashley is joined on staff by Dean Fagg and Chris Wise who have a diverse range of talents and are both widely known in the industry.
At Glenisa, we are constantly striving to improve the quality of our herd and the efficiency of our operation. We believe that the purchase last season of two new sires, Peakes Elston EVTE4 and Booroomooka Yogi NGMF43 to add to our impressive line up of stud sires, combined with the expertise of our new team and a renewed attention to detail, gives us a well balanced combination that will drive our stud and commercial business successfully into the future.
On farm inspections and paddock sales are welcome and we invite you to drop in or make an appointment to view our latest crop of sale bulls. Should you require further information or would like to make an appointment please do not hesitate to contact either Ashley (0428 753 524) or myself (0428718640).
